How to use eBay auctions to drive traffic to your site

Copyright 2005 Peter Tarrida del Marmol

Many eBay auction sellers rely only on eBay for generating 100% of their online income. Many of these people are running a successful auction business; however, they could do even better. They are missing a huge opportunity to turbo-boost their business profits and reduce their listing fees at the same time. If you feel you are one of these people, these are the steps you should follow to optimize your net auction business:

1.Create a website. If you can write an eBay ad, then you can design a website. It is not rocket science. You can download many free web templates from the internet and customize them easily with any HTML editor. If you type the words “free web templates” in Google, for example, you will get more than one million results!

2.Register a domain name and hire a web hosting service. These services start at about $40 per year, depending on the web space and special services you require. Once you have set up your hosting account, you must publish your site.

3.Register an account in Paypal in order to allow online payments from your website. Paypal’s payment buttons and shopping cart options are easy to use and allow you to set up your site very quickly.

4.Use allowed strategies in your eBay auctions to drive traffic to your website. You don’t have to pay listing fees and commissions for the sales that come from your website, so your objective should be to use eBay only to generate traffic and monetize your sales from your own website.

But everybody knows that eBay does not allow placing outbound links in the auction ads, so how can you turn the massive eBay daily traffic into a continuous stream of visitors to your site?

Here comes the interesting part…

The first method is to put a link to your site on your “about me” page and then link your auction ad to it. This is allowed by eBay. Your auction visitors will be directed first to your “about me” page, and then driven to your website. A second way to gain traffic is advertising your business using a picture or logo on your auction ad that includes your website’s URL. By doing this, you will be using eBay as a very cheap way of advertising online. All your auction visitors will see the name of your site and will be invited to type your URL in their web browser.

To optimize the number of visitors to your auctions, make sure to use popular words in your auction’s title.

Another easy technique is to write your site’s name without the “http://” or “www” in a paragraph of your eBay ad. This should be done carefully. The paragraph should not look like an ad for your site, but as a natural explanation. For example, let’s say your website is www.auctionearnings.com. You could include a paragraph like this in your ad:

“You can find more information regarding this product at AuctionEarnings.com, as well as free articles and free e-books that will contribute to increasing your knowledge on your subject of interest.”

Finally, and in my opinion, the most efficient way to gain massive traffic is to create an information product and give it away on eBay. Sell it for one penny and send an email to your customers with a link to your download page.

Attention - very important!

You MUST capture your customer’s name and email address in order to build your own customer list, so that you can promote other products in the future using auto-responders. At this point, you will be taking control of your own business and you will not have to depend on eBay anymore to monetize your sales.

Work From Home Business Money Matrix

Do you want to work from home? If so this is a business for you then. I am about to tell you how you can start working from home part-time or full-time. The more you put in the more you will make just like anything in life. What you put in is what you get out. I will first telling you working from home is not easy. It is still work. Do not think working from home you are going to be rich over night cause you will not be. But if you listen to what I am about to say you can earn a good amount of money doing it. I myself am doing it and I have made $2000 in one month and I work at it part-time.

So here is what it is. What if I told you that you could make $80 for every person you sign up? Also for every person you sign up you will get $47 a month from them as long as they stay in the program. I do not know anyone that would want to leave this amazing program. When you sign up you will also be in a money matrix. So back to what I was talking about. You can work from home doing this easy business. All you simply have to do is sign at least 2 people up to get started. For doing so you will get $160 for sing up those two people. For every other person you sign up after that you will get $80 for just signing them up plus you will get $47 a month from them. Now remember you are going to also be in a money matrix. Say I signed up something they will be going below you and me. For everyone under you that you didn’t sign up you will get $2 off them every month.

So you can earn money from signing people up and get $80 for everyone you sign up plus $47 a month from them. Or you can just sign up your first two and let others above you do the signing up and gain $2 a month of them.

Now lets do the math for this work at home business. Say all you did was sign up two people. And the people above you signed up 100 people. Those 100 people would be blow you cause you are higher then them in the money matrix. So now you will get $2 every month from those 100 people. That is $200 for doing nothing but signing up 2 people. Now say you worked from home and singed up people. Member you get $80 for everyone you sign up and $47 every month from them. So lets say you have 110 people under you again the 100 you didn’t sign up but the other 10 you signed up. So 10 x $80 is $800. Now you are going to get $47 every month from those 10 people you signed up plus $2 a month from the 100 you didn’t sign up. So lets do that math. 10 x $47 = $470 plus 100 x $2 = $200. So if you signed up 10 people and had 100 people under you that you didn’t even sign up the people above you did. You made $800 for singing them up, $470 from the 10 people you did sign up ( you get this $470 every month from those 10 people you signed up ), and you get $200 from the 100 people you didn’t sign up. Add that all together now $800 + $470 + $200 = $1,470.

Domain hosting for blogging - free or paid service

Blogging is an abbreviation of "web-logging". The simplest definition of a blog is that it is an online log that is organized in reverse chronological order. It comprises of comments, declarations, links, or anything else of interest to the blog writer. There are two basic requirements of starting your own blog. You need a software to run a blog and a place on the Internet to host your blog. Taking into consideration the above mentioned two factors, there can be four categories of blogs:

1. Free Software + Free Webhosting

2. Free Software + Paid Webhosting

3. Paid Software including Price of Webhosting

4. Paid Software + Paid Webhosting

We have given descriptions of all these four options alongwith their pros and cons. We have also given recommendations regarding the suitability of these options.

1. Free Software + Free Webhosting

This is a completely free way of blogging. Here you pay neither for the software nor for the virtual hosting. But there are some drawbacks of this system. It offers very few features as compared to the paid services. You cannot post pictures online or design your preferred look for your site. The companies that provide free software and free domain hosting frequently place a banner immediately above your site. This detracts the visitors from the look of your site. You also have no discretion over the content of the advertisements. The key advantage of this system is that it is absolutely free. This option is extremely useful for a newcomer since he/she can try this method to find if they are really interested in blogging. This option is recommended for those people who would not like to pay anything or for the newcomers.

2. Free Software + Paid Webhosting

This option provides you free software but you will have to pay for the domain hosting. There is a cost factor involved in this option. Minimum cost of domain hosting would be $5 per month but a realistic budget would be slightly higher, around $7-8. The annual registration fee for domain name would be about $10-30. This system will let you do certain things that you were unable to do with the free one. Here, you can modify the look of your site and you can also post pictures. But free softwares have fewer features than paid ones. This option is highly recommended because by just paying the cost of virtual hosting and domain registration, you can avail great features and flexibility.

3. Paid Software including Price of Webhosting

This is a subscription-based option. There are ongoing costs involved in this option. You have to pay at least $6 per month for basic services and for advanced features the fee would be around $15 per month. The cumulative cost for a year would reach up to $200. That makes this option a very expensive one. Apart from customizing the look of your site and posting photographs online, you will be able to use a software that provides more features than a free one. This option is recommended for people who do not want to be troubled with virtual hosting and software installation issues. This is the easiest possible solution. It offers great features but at a reasonably high price.

4. Paid Software + Paid Webhosting

This option provides you paid software and paid domain hosting. The cost of the domain hosting ranges from $5 to $10 per month while the cost of the software would be at least $45 (one-time cost). This option gives you great amount of flexibility. You can select your own domain name and have a feature-rich blogging software. This option is highly recommended for businesses since the cost is not a major consideration.
